You don’t need “the look” to be emo

You don’t need “the look” to be scene

You don’t need “the look” to be a metalhead

You don’t need “the look” to be punk

You don’t need “the look” to be goth

Such subcultures are about the spirit and the music. Someone could look like a member of a certain subculture without being a part of it. Hence, a member of a subculture can look like an average person living next door to you. 

You don’t know why they don’t “look” the part. Their parents/guardians may not allow them to do it. They may not be interested in it or they may not have the money. No matter what their reasons are, please, respect them.
